Faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry are engaged in wide variety of outreach.   For scientists to have a positive impact on society and the planet, we must shoulder the burden of educating future generations and the general public.  Packaging highly technical studies into a form that can be appreciated by the layperson is challenging and presenting science to a group of non-scientists is unfamiliar territory for most researchers.  Faculty and students in our department are passionate about bringing science and scientific discoveries to active learners from 8 to 80 years old.

Throughout the year, we visit local elementary, middle, and high schools doing demonstrations, lectures, and judging at science fairs.  Just as in the classroom here at MSU, our goal is to create an interactive environment where discussion and hands on learning generate enthusiasm.  We frequently donate our time to younger (preschool) and older (masters and post-baccalaureate) learners.  In addition to on campus events, students and faculty participate in the International Lego League, Nanodays, and Science Saturdays.  If you would like more information please contact our Department at 406-994-4801.
