Spring 2009 INBRE Scholars announced
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is pleased to announce that the following undergraduate students received INBRE Undergraduate Research Stipends for spring 2009. Each student will receive up to $750 for working on specific topics with Department faculty.
Katie Lenahan will work with Prof. Trevor Douglas on “Probing the Peroxide Activity of the Novel Dps protein from Sulfolobus solfataricus”.
Joe Azarelli will work with Prof. Hien Nguyen on “cationic Palladium (II) catalyzed Stereoselective beta-glycosylation”.
Patrick Bender will work with Prof. Martin Teintze on “T140 crosslinked to CXCR4 digested with trypsin and Asp N to determine binding site”.
Shannon Kruse will work with Prof. Brian Bothner of “Thermal Melt of AAV”.
Sarah Walton will work with Prof. Martin Teintze on “Mapping the Binding Site of Small Molecule CCR5 antagonists”.
The Montana INBRE Program (IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence) builds on the previous success of the Montana BRIN Program (Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network) awarded to Montana State University in 2001 by the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This five-year program (2004-2009) continues to focus on increasing the biomedical research capacity of Montana by building research infrastructure, supporting faculty and student research, and fostering a state-wide collaborative network.
Congratulations to all these exceptional students!
