Nobel Laureate Presentation
Professor Richard Schrock, one of the recipients of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will speak at Montana State University on Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27.
On Wednesday he will gvie a Chemistry seminar "Monoalkoxide Monopyrrolide Olefin Metathesis Catalysts of Molybdenum. High Turnover, Variability, and Asymmetry at the Metal" at 2:10 p.m. in 108 Reid Hall.
On Thursday he will give a general lecture "What is Metathesis" at 7:30 p.m. in the Hager Auditorium of the Museum of the Rockies.
Dr. Richard Schrock, professor of chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, along with Robert H. Grubbs and Yves Chauvin, for his work in the area of olefin metathesis, an organic synthesis technique now used daily in the chemical industry for the efficient and more environmentally friendly production of important pharmaceuticals, fuels, synthetic fibers and many other products.
