Proteomics and Biological Mass Spectrometer Facility

MSU-Bozeman

The mission of the Facility is to seed proteomics and mass spectrometry technology to research labs at Montana State University and affiliated programs.  Periodic hands-on training sessions are offered by the Facility. The goal of the training modules is to expand facility access to researchers with little previous training in proteomics and mass spectrometry. Please contact Philip Clark if you wish to be notified of the training sessions.

The Facility has modules for LC-MALDI and simultaneous multiwavelength monitoring and mass spectrometry analysis with microfraction collection available.  Tthe Facility also possesses the new Agilent microfluidics “chipLC” system which has on-board columns, switching valves, and nano sprayer.  The "chipLC" system makes virtually all of the fluidics connections, and users have their own microfluidic chip that they "plug into" a receiver system. With exchangeable LC interfaces, most problems which hinder nanospray incorporation by relatively inexperienced users are eliminated.  This technology promises to be a real breakthrough for user access to this difficult technique.
